Not For Nothing

It's not for nothing even if it isn't much.
"These moves and steps along the path.
These turn arounds and dead ends
Are not for nothing?" You ask.

Sure, it's doing something, something true.
It's shaping someone. Maybe you.
It's got a meaning which, I can't tell;
But it's not for nothing
What you go through.

It's not for nothing each mistake.
There's some measure, meek or great
That it's doing in a soul.
It's not for nothing where you go.

Or what your do or how you choose
Or why you tried or what you loose.
It's not for nothing, though it seems
I gained nothing
From loving you.

Be willing to put the seed in the ground and accept a verdict of death. Let it die. Let it die for a long time. Let it die over and over again.

Let it humble you. Submit. Yield. Trust.

Let there be years before fruit is produced. Sometimes it takes a long time for a seed to become a tree. Sometimes you die, while the tree is still in it's young stages. And your daughter dies. But believe that someone, somewhere along this line of Christian living needs the shade that you have started to give them by accepting a verdict of death. Believe that God will grow the tree.

Don't treasure your dead seed. Just let it die as it must. Let it grow if it will. And let it's fate be in his hands. Don't worry if someone hacks your tree to pieces. God is able to stop them. Don't worry about the fate of the tree. Don't look for fruit.

Be willing to plant a seed that you will never reap the fruit from. Be willing to trust that death is the route to life, and you may never be able to prove that.

You may never be able to give evidence that submission was the best way. You may always look like a fool. Like a failure. Like a woman without any fruit.

But you must trust. Trust that someone, somewhere along the line needed you to die so that they could eat the fruit of your faith and live.
