Where Is He?

She looked for Christ on the mountains.
She wandered lonely hills.
She studied the whole world over,
And sought religious thrills.

She felt for Christ by the alters
Of churches built to last.
She read of saints who found Him,
And she sought Him in their past.

She brewed a cup of coffee—
Perhaps Christ comes to peace,
With markers and devotions,
She'll find Him in beauty.

She sought for Christ in creation.
She scrounged among the weeds
And thought up metaphors
Of spiders, fruits, and seeds.

She found Christ in the daily,
Ordinary life.
Where temptations meet the living,
And obedience faces strife.

She loved Christ by obeying,
And saw Christ in events,
Where He has clearly spoken,
And she lived by covenants.

If you love me,
Keep my commandments.
If you want me,
Learn to see.
Christ is found in acting
On what we claim to believe.
